Enforcement of Summons

   Posted by: BobMcNeil   in IRS

I returned home from a business trip and found a letter in my mailbox from R. Scott Shieldes, Special Assistant, U.S. Attorney, with the U.S. Department of Justice. The letter was dated October 18, 2007 and was entitled “Enforcement of Summons”.

Basically, he said that, since I had failed to fully comply with the Summons during my October 5, 2007 meeting with Roger Caris, IRS Revenue Officer, the Department of Justice had been requested to institute proceedings against me in the United States District Court.

But, before any court action would be taken, I would be given one last opportunity to fully comply with the Summons by meeting a SECOND time with Mr. Caris at 10:00a.m., Friday, October 26, 2007 to provide the information requested.

I plan to meet with Mr. Caris and provide an appropriate response to the Summons.
